Just stumbled upon your blog and read about your Santa Fe trip. We live in NM, just south of SF, and are glad your enjoyed the “Land of Enchantment”. There are a lot of unique things about living here that make it a wonderful spot to visit and explore. October is the Balloon Fiesta, the most photographed event in the world. In April is the burning of Zozobra, a unique celebration of the end of winter. Thanks for posting and sharing your trip – we love to get visitors. Maybe you’ll come back and explore some more.

This is great! I also live in D.C., and we also went to Santa Fe over Fourth of July weekend, and also went to Restaurant Martin (mmm), so it was fun re-living a bit of the trip through your gorgeous pictures!

New Mexico is really pretty in a very unique way. It’s also blazing hot, but it’s a dry heat that isn’t terrible.

Camille, you’ll have a great trip! Reserve at Restaurant Martin and Aqua Santa now — both very nice and tend to fill up. On the more casual side, definitely check out Tia Sophia’s for breakfast (closed Monday). Very good local food. Honestly, our best low-key meal was cobbled together from the farmers’ market — don’t miss it!

We almost moved to SF or Taos when we retired and visit once a year – your photos really catch the heartbeat of this magical part of the country…Try it in fall when the aspen turn and snow dusts the tops of the mountains. The Santa Fe Cookbook is also fun – great post!
