		<description>Erik -- I suppose you could add some white pepper, but the color of the soup is such a creamy white that I wouldn&#039;t want the dark pepper in there.  As for other herbs, it&#039;s true -- this soup is dead simple, but the bacon really adds a ton of flavor (and the onion, celery and garlic don&#039;t hurt).
Also, per a question I got via email, if you&#039;re not so into the smoky flavor, feel free to skip it, and go with curry flavors instead: cumin, tumeric, coriander, ginger, etc.  It&#039;d be a totally different soup, but a tasty one at that.</description>
